Brisbane, QLD — Completed 2024
A pre-war Queenslander with an open front verandah that hadn't been touched in decades — louvres, dark timber flooring, and no way to use it year-round. The owners had lived around the space for years, knowing it had potential they were never realising.
They wanted it enclosed and converted into a proper study: functional, air-conditioned, and designed to look like it belonged to the home rather than a later add-on. Tomas assessed the structure, designed the enclosure to match the Queenslander's character, and managed the full conversion from demolition through to finishing.
The open verandah was fully enclosed and rebuilt to match the Queenslander's original character. VJ sheeting was installed throughout the walls — the right choice for a pre-war home, and the detail that makes the space feel authentic rather than retrofitted.
New aluminium windows with decorative bars were fitted on all exterior faces, bringing in light while keeping the period look. Vinyl plank flooring replaced the old dark timber throughout, and the room was fully insulated and lined for air-conditioning. What was a wasted corner of the home is now the most sought-after room in the house.
This kind of precision carpentry work — VJ sheeting, window installs, and period-matched joinery — is a core part of what we do across Brisbane.
