BUILT FOR HOW YOUR FAMILY LIVES, NOT HOW A DISPLAY VILLAGE THINKS IT SHOULD

Volume builders build the same home in 47 different postcodes. The finishes are average, the trades are rushed, and the builder you spoke to on day one is long gone by lock-up. You end up with a house that looks fine and feels generic.

We build custom homes for clients who want something designed around their site, their family, and their life — and who want to deal with the same person from the first site visit to the day they get their keys. One builder. No project manager in the middle. No handoff to a franchise team.

Custom Design Collaboration

We work alongside your architect or designer from the concept stage to ensure the design is buildable, costed accurately, and doesn't hide expensive surprises in the documentation. If you don't have an architect yet, we can recommend designers we have a proven working relationship with.

To start a new build conversation, a site address and a general brief of what you're looking for is enough. We'll give you an honest ballpark before any money changes hands.

Full Construction Management

Slab through to handover, Tom personally manages every stage — subcontractors, inspections, materials procurement, and quality control. You get weekly progress updates and direct access to your builder, not a call centre or a project co-ordinator who's never been on site.

Every new build is fixed price once documentation is complete. We don't do provisional sums that balloon during the build.

Luxury Finishes & High Specification

We build to a standard that shows in the details — engineered stone benchtops, custom joinery, feature timber elements, stone and tile selections, high-spec electrical and plumbing fixtures. No value engineering that makes the house look cheaper than the drawings promised.

Our finish selections process involves you at every step. You know what you're getting before it's installed, not after.

How A Custom Build Works

01

Ballpark Figure & Phone Brief

Before booking a site visit, Tom works from a mud map or block plan and a quick phone discussion to give you a realistic ballpark based on size, finish level, and site conditions. This way we confirm the project fits your budget before either of us spend half a day walking the block.

Site Review & Brief

Once the ballpark stacks up, Tom reviews your site in person, discusses your vision, and tightens up the estimate. No commitment required — just an honest starting point to know if we're the right fit.

Design and documentation
03

Design & Documentation

We work alongside your architect through the design phase, reviewing drawings for buildability and providing cost feedback at each stage. This avoids expensive surprises when the final documentation is issued for quoting.

04

Fixed-Price Contract

Once documentation is complete, we issue a detailed fixed-price contract. Every inclusion is specified. Variations happen only if you change the scope — and you approve them in writing before any additional work begins.

Construction

Tom is on site regularly, managing every trade and every inspection. You receive fortnightly updates with photos and progress reports. The person you signed with is the person running your job.

Handover & Aftercare

A full walk-through, your occupation certificate, a maintenance manual, and a builder you can still call after the keys are handed over. We build homes we're proud to put our name on long after the job is done.

Custom New Home FAQs

Bespoke architectural new homes in Brisbane typically start from around $850,000 and scale up significantly with site complexity, size, and finish level. Premium custom homes in the inner ring regularly land between $1.5M–$3M+. Tomas provides a realistic ballpark before any documentation work begins.

No — Tomas works with clients at any stage. If you have an architect already, we'll work alongside them. If not, we can recommend Brisbane architects and designers we have a proven working relationship with for your style and budget.

From signed contract to handover is typically 10–14 months for a custom Brisbane home. Design + documentation + council approval adds another 6–12 months on top of that. We give realistic timelines upfront — no over-promising.

Volume builders work from a fixed catalogue of designs and trade pricing across thousands of homes a year. Custom builders design every home around your site, your family, and your budget. With Farr, Tomas personally manages every site visit, every inspection, and every trade — not a project manager working across 20 sites.

No — we don't run a display village. Every home Farr builds is bespoke and lives at a private client address. We can arrange site visits to projects nearing completion (with the owners' permission) so you can see our finish level firsthand.

We build custom homes across Brisbane's premium suburbs — Hamilton, Ascot, Teneriffe, New Farm, Bulimba, Hawthorne, Bardon, Paddington, Red Hill, Ashgrove, Pullenvale, Chapel Hill, Brookfield, Fig Tree Pocket, St Lucia and surrounding areas.

Brisbane suburbs we build in

We build custom homes across Brisbane's premium suburbs — character-aligned new builds in the inner-city ring, contemporary architectural homes in the leafy west, and bespoke homes on bayside and acreage blocks.
