YOUR BACKYARD IS THE MOST UNDERUSED ROOM IN YOUR HOME

Brisbane's climate is built for outdoor living — 280 days of sunshine a year. But most backyards are wasted: a patch of grass, an old concrete slab, nothing to actually use. The entertaining you want to do stays at other people's houses.

We build complete outdoor living spaces — pools, outdoor kitchens, decks, and entertaining areas — to the same structural standard as the inside of your home. Not just a pergola and a BBQ, but a space you'll actually use every weekend.

Pools & Spa

Concrete pools, fibreglass pools, plunge pools, and swim spas — we manage the full installation including site excavation, plumbing, filtration, tiling, and fencing to council compliance. We also coordinate the pool fencing approvals required under Queensland law.

To get a quote, a site inspection is the first step. Photos of the yard and your rough idea of size and position help us come prepared.

02

Outdoor Kitchens

A proper outdoor kitchen — not a bench with a BBQ bolted on. We build weather-resistant cabinetry, stone benchtops, gas and plumbing connections, rangehoods, under-bench fridges, and integrated appliances. The kind of space that makes hosting effortless.

Photos of your outdoor area and a general idea of what you want to cook and entertain with is enough to get started. We handle the design from there.

Decks & Entertaining Areas

Hardwood and composite decking, covered pergolas, louvred roofs, outdoor blinds, and lighting — everything that turns a backyard into a proper entertaining space. We handle the structural permits where required and build to last in Queensland's climate.

Photos of the space and a sketch or description of what you're envisioning is all you need to bring to the first conversation.

Our Outdoor Living Process

Ballpark Figure & Phone Brief

Before booking a site visit, Tom works from a mud map or real estate photos and a quick phone discussion to give you a ballpark figure. This way we confirm the project fits your budget before either of us spend half a day walking the yard.

Site Inspection & Estimate

Once the ballpark stacks up, Tom visits your property, assesses the yard, existing drainage, and setback requirements, then tightens up the estimate.

Outdoor Living FAQs

A proper outdoor kitchen in Brisbane runs $25,000–$80,000+ depending on size, stone benchtops, weather-resistant cabinetry, and appliances. A premium outdoor kitchen with integrated fridges, rangehood, gas grill and stone benches usually lands $50K–$80K.

Yes — every swimming pool in Queensland requires a building permit through a private certifier or council. Pool fencing must comply with Queensland's Pool Safety Standard (QDC MP 3.4). Farr manages permits and the pool safety inspection as part of every build.

For Brisbane: Merbau and Spotted Gum are the most reliable hardwoods — they handle the wet-summer/dry-winter cycle without cupping. Composite decking (Modwood, Trex, Ekodeck) is gaining popularity for low-maintenance builds. We discuss the tradeoffs at quote stage.

Yes — most of our alfresco projects combine pool + deck + outdoor kitchen + pergola in a single coordinated build. One builder, one timeline, one fixed-price contract. Doing it in one go saves significant cost vs sequential trades.

Concrete pools: 12–16 weeks from excavation to final commissioning. Fibreglass pools: 4–8 weeks. Add 2–4 weeks for surrounding decking, fencing and landscaping. Council approvals can add weeks at the front.

Yes — pool fencing is a hard requirement in Queensland and Farr coordinates it as part of every pool build. We handle the design, install, and the pool safety inspection certificate so you're handed over a compliant project.
